Interfaces increase efficiency in the information process

A number of specialised applications play a role in the information process. The better these are linked, the higher the achievable degree of efficiency. This is why we have created interfaces for our best practice systems that enable the various systems to work together efficiently.

However, synergies can also be created at the process edges by interfaces to other systems.

Use data from creation systems

Systems such as ERP, CAD and PLM are indispensable in design and development. This is where the data that defines the product is created. In software development, there are systems for modelling and code management, in which the technical know-how of your company can be found in a similar way.

This data forms the basis for the user-oriented preparation of information in the information process. Direct interfaces between the systems increase the efficiency of the information process and help to realise new information scenarios.

Here are some examples:

  • automatic generation of information products on the basis of parts lists

  • automatic compilation of supplier documents

  • direct transfer of software texts into the information products

  • Triggering content updates after development changes

Transfer of information products to systems for use

The more individual and numerous the information products become and the more different systems there are, the more effort it takes to make the individual information products available in target systems. Here, interfaces help to reduce manual effort and the associated sources of error. The security in the publication process increases.

In cooperation with the respective contact people of the target systems, our Application Developers are able to create interfaces to all conceivable target systems. For example:

  • ERP

  • DMS

  • PDM

  • Web Portal

  • Content Delivery Platforms

  • Online Shop Systems

  • Catalogue Systems

First the target, then the interface

By linking systems, automation potentials can be exploited in principle. What these look like in detail depends strongly on the type of information, the products and the requirements of the target audience.

This is why we provide a detailed consulting and analysis phase at the beginning of an interface project. In many cases, the desire for an interface arises from a previous consulting project for process optimisation. In this way, we ensure that the investment in time and money, as well as the not always easy coordination processes to create an interface also bring the desired benefit.
