Tasks
The IT department has two main tasks: On one hand it provides kothes employees with the IT systems they need for their work, and on the other hand it carries out IT projects for our customers.
The range of services offered by the IT department extends from consulting to the selection and implementation of IT systems to their adaptation and connectivity. With its systems and services, the department covers all aspects of the Smart Information Life Cycle and is thus able to offer complete solutions for all conceivable tasks in the information process.
The IT Consultants work closely with the Consultants from the Technical Editorial departments and support them in IT-related tasks. In addition, they independently carry out consulting projects (e.g. as part of system implementations or information concepts).
Our Application Developers take over the implementation of programming tasks for interfaces, system extensions and stylesheets.
Our System Administrators ensure the smooth operation of our IT and the systems that we host for our customers. In addition, they take over the support for the systems adapted by us and take care of installation and updates.
Peter Ritthoff, Head of IT
After studying German Language and Literature, Philosophy and Theology, Peter Ritthoff initially worked as a Research Assistant in the field of Church History and simultaneously developed software solutions within the humanities. Later, he worked partly as a Technical Editor, partly as a Software Developer and Project Manager for medium-sized and large companies. During this time, the focus of his work was on the development of an ERP system and various applications in the DMS/workflow environment. Peter Ritthoff has worked for kothes since 2005, first as a Freelance Technical Editor, later as a Group Leader in Technical Editing and since 2016 as an IT Manager.
