Workshop "Creating Instructions – Part 1: Structure and Content" - Information for users - Technical Editing - Overview - Overview - Seminar descriptions

Our services - What we can do for you

What's it about?

In recent years, the requirements for manuals have grown steadily. The Product Safety Act, various directives and standards, such as DIN EN 82079-1 "Preparation of Instructions for Use", today place very specific requirements on the provision and content of instructions. In addition, legislators are placing increasing emphasis on ensuring that users receive exactly the information they need when using the product. But how can all these requirements be implemented in everyday technical editorial work? What is important when structuring a manual? What content goes into which chapter and how can the information needs of the target audience be met?

Our Topics

  • Legal and normative framework conditions for technical documentation

  • Carry out standards research

  • Target audience analysis

  • Assess the information needs of the target audience

  • Mandatory content of user information

  • Content and structure of instructions

Learning objective

In the workshop, we answer these questions and impart the basic knowledge about the legally compliant and standard-compliant structure of manuals and the structured integration of the manual contents. In a practical exercise, the participants apply what they have learned and, with support, create a structure for the instruction of an example product.

Target audience

The workshop is aimed at everyone who creates manuals or is responsible for their content.
